LThe multisector experience in different fields has allowed ERF technical team to apply composite material even in art through the restoration work of the Dancying Satyre, a bronze statue dating back to 400 b.C. and missing the supporting leg lost in its past.
In cooperation with the Institute of Physics ICR – Central Institute of Restoration – ERF has manufactured a carbon tube, set in the statue, to vertically support the body. And this is just the beginning: ERF technicians have realized an extraordinary body shell in carbon fibre to allow the safest handling and transportation of the statue from Mazara del Vallo – Sicily, where it was found by a fisherman, to Japan for the Expo 2005 in Aichi.
On the basis of the scanned geometry by reverse engineering and using the prototype of a 3D digitalized model, ERF technicians have combined composite technology used in F1 racing cars and America’s Cup racing boats to manufacture the perfectly suiting body shell, to protect to statue from any handling risk during its moving.
